Healthy Forest Alliance is a nonprofit organization based in Truckee, California, dedicated to improving forest health, reducing wildfire risk, and strengthening community resilience through collaborative land management. Working across the Sierra Nevada and throughout California, the Alliance advances the safe and responsible use of prescribed fire as a critical tool for restoring fire-adapted ecosystems.
Healthy Forest Alliance brings together landowners, fire practitioners, Tribes, agencies, nonprofits, and community groups to plan and implement prescribed fire projects, deliver high-quality training, and expand the prescribed fire workforce. The organization also supports practitioner development through scholarships, equipment access, and hands-on training opportunities that remove barriers to participation.
Guided by science, safety, and collaboration, Healthy Forest Alliance focuses on proactive solutions to wildfire challenges—helping communities prepare, landscapes recover, and practitioners gain the skills needed to apply good fire responsibly. Through its work in Truckee and beyond, HFA is building healthier forests and more resilient communities for future generations.
