Tahoe Donner Giving Fund Hosts its 4th Annual Dinner & Silent Auction

The Tahoe Donner Giving Fund will host its 4th Annual Dinner and Silent Auction on Wednesday, July 11 at 6 p.m. located at the Pavilion Tent at The Lodge Restaurant & Pub. Join a night of scrumptious food, convivial camaraderie, exciting auction items and an informative speaker presentation – all to support local nonprofits. Tickets on sale now. Proceeds from the event funds fall grants supporting local non-profits in the greater Truckee area and scholarships to community high school graduates.

The Giving Fund is pleased to have Graham M. Kent, Ph.D present on the evening’s timely topic of wildfires. Dr. Kent is the founder of AlertTahoe, a system of cameras streaming real-time images to firefighters, other emergency personnel, and the public. Dr. Kent is also the Director of the Nevada Seismological Laboratory and Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering at UNR.

The dinner menu features locally sourced and seasonal entrees, delicious sides, salad and table wine. Silent auction items will include travel, art, dining, sporting goods, activities and home maintenance.

The Tahoe Donner Giving Fund was created in 2014 to pool contributions from association members to support the good work of local non-profits and provide academic and vocational scholarships to graduates of need. Participation from Tahoe Donner neighbors aid in the Giving Fund’s financial contributions which have a direct and positive impact on kids, schools, community programs and the environment. Past grants have included the Tahoe Food Hub, Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe, Sierra Watershed Education Partnership and Arts for the Schools. Since its inauguration, the Giving Fund has disbursed over $56,000 in grants and over $35,500 in scholarships.
