Donner Party Hike

Learn the secrets of Donner Summit as you hike with local historians. Saturday has seven hikes of varying degrees of difficulty to choose from. The hikes will be followed by lunch and a historical talk at lunch time. A chautauqa presentation focused on the Reed Family of the Donner Party. This will be followed by a presentation about the five extreme athletes who will have just completed a reprise of the 1844 Stephens Party's crossing of the Sierra (two years before the Donner Party.

Sunday offers an additional walking tour and exploration/education at Alder Creek and the State Park where Donner Party families winters.
