About Us

Mountain Hardware and Sports was established by four long-time friends in 1977. With limited store space, the friends created a unique shopping experience with top-notch customer service that has proven to be a huge success. To this day, people come from near and far to enjoy Mountain Hardware and Sports.

It has been over 40 years since we first opened our doors, and customer service is still one of our core values. Each member of our staff is committed to helping each customer have a great experience. We carry a little bit of everything to appeal to a wide range of shoppers. You won’t be disappointed by the Mountain Hardware and Sports selection. We are the region’s one-stop-shop for mountain lifestyle products and hardware.

In 2001, we expanded our Mountain Hardware philosophy to the local hardware store in Blairsden, CA. An exciting addition to the Mountain Hardware family, we were proud to expand into another community in the Northern Sierras with our second location. In both 2010 and 2015 we were honored to be named the Best Large Business of the Year from the Truckee/Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, and in 2012 we were named ACE’s Coolest Hardware Store on the Planet.

Today, ACE Mountain Hardware and Sports is 100% employee owned and continues to serve the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee area with pride, delivering quality customer service to each customer that walks through our door. Most recently we’ve earned recognition as the 2015-2016 ESOP Association Company of the Year for the Western States and are a finalist for National Company of the Year.
