About Us

Advocating for open space and smart community planning since 1987, MAP believes that mountain communities must create a balance between accommodating new growth and protecting the forests, streams, and vistas that enrich our lives and sustain our tourism economy.

By embracing smart growth principles, MAP seeks to assure that new growth avoids critical environmental areas, protects water and air quality, and recycles already disturbed lands with in-fill development as opposed to sprawling into valued open space. MAP works in the greater Truckee - Tahoe region and is a member-based advocacy non-profit.
