Top-Down Set in Sleeves
Participants will learn to knit set-in sleeves—tailored to fit themselves perfectly—in this six hour hands-on session with knitwear designer Elizabeth Doherty. The class will cover:
- An introduction to top-down set-in sleeve sweater construction
- Fitting a set-in sleeve
- Taking measurements and choosing a size
- Making adjustments for gauge differences
- Making adjustments for fitting bust and hips
- Shaping the armhole and knitting a sleeve cap
Using the information from their gauge swatch and the measurements we'll take in class, participants will complete a practice armhole, then learn how to pick up stitches and begin shaping a sleeve cap. The practice sleeve cap will be worked in Aran weight yarn, so that most participants will have time to work through at least the upper cap shaping, if not entirely complete their practice sleeve cap.
