The Sierra State Parks Foundation is very pleased to offer a presentation by Barbara Czerwinski & Heidi Sproat from the Donner Party Hike.
Do you know how and why Truckee became known as the birthplace of California Winter Sports? Ever heard of an Ice Palace? We will explore Mr. McGlashan’s vision and economic needs combined with the draw of Truckee’s Rocking Stone and the Southern Pacific Railroad which collectively helped to morph the greater Truckee-Tahoe Region into the present day year-round tourist and recreational destination that it has become.
