This two-day/one-night program is designed for people who are already familiar with summer backpacking and camping techniques, and want to try their hand at snow camping. Join us for this weekend experience and gain insight into snow camping topics including: dressing for success in the backcountry, staying warm at night, navigating in the snow, and winter Leave No Trace practices.
After a classroom introduction to snow camping, we will head out to Tahoe Meadows to begin our 60-90 minute journey snowshoeing through the beautiful winter wilderness. Participants will enjoy a quiet evening amongst the snow-covered trees while learning the essential skills and techniques to keep you safe and comfortable, and enjoying the freedom, quiet, and freshness that only snow camping can afford. You will leave this course ready to tackle your future snow camping trips competently and confidently.
