Jerry Blackwill of the Truckee Donner Railroad Society will tell the story of the first passenger train arriving in Truckee from Sacramento and the transcontinental railroad’s construction over the Sierras. How a civil engineer – Theodore Judah had the dream, and four businessmen from Sacramento brought the dream to reality. The businessmen – Stanford, Huntington, Crocker and Hopkins (the Big Four) put together the plan to construct the Central Pacific Railroad from Sacramento to Utah where the Central Pacific Railroad connected with the Union Pacific.
