Join others seeking enrichment at Sierra College Insights with Hugh Shapiro, Ph.D. In “Eurasian Globalizations: Hard and Soft Power in the Transformation of the Anthropocene,” Shapiro will address how Eurasia has transformed global culture in unexpected, far-reaching, and lasting ways for the last millennium. Scrutinize Eurasia’s ongoing pivotal transformation of global culture, including such themes as the Mongol Empire, the “Korean Wave” (Hallyu), and the BRI (Belt Road Initiative).
Shapiro is an Associate Professor in History at the University of Nevada, Reno. His specialties include East Asian history, China and the history of medicine. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for complimentary refreshments, and the session takes place from 7 to 8:15 p.m.
