DESCRIPTION:The Truckee Winter Carnival first started in 1895 and is being presented locally to provide free\, family fun.\nDespite best efforts by the organizers\, the snow activities for the 2025 Winter Carnival will be cancelled. Unfortunately\, Mother Nature had other plans this year\, and the lack of snow threw a large wrinkle into hosting outdoor events.\n\nHowever\, the Winter Carnival isn't over! We invite you to join us for an exciting lineup of events still moving forward. Mark your calendars for Friday\, Feb. 28\, and don't miss our Group Photo and Silent Movie with a Live Soundtrack. Then\, on Saturday\, March 1\, enjoy our Historic Presentations\, Walking Tour\, and the Hot Doggin' Party with Live Music.\n\n\n\n \n\n6:00 p.m. Friday: Old Time Themed Group Photo followed by Charlie Chaplin's The Gold Rush Silent Film\, filmed in Truckee in the 1920s\, with a live soundtrack provided by Heidi Kusma and the Mountain Bells will start at 6:15 pm\n\n\n\n9:00 a.m. - noon Saturday: Presentations: History of the Winter Carnival and Trains Support the Winter Carnival\, then a Train Walk - Rotary Snowplow\, Cranes\, 1927 Model\n\n\n\n5:30 - 10:00 p.m. Saturday: Hot Doggin Party!: Food\, beer\, live music by Taylor Carlton then Dark Horse\; Hot Dog (the movie) Costume Contest\, Hot Dog Eating Contest\, and more!\n\nWe look forward to celebrating with you and making this Winter Carnival a memorable one!\n\n\nThis event is presented by the Museum of Truckee History and Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District.
