Cie Hoover Artist Reception at Piper J Gallery

Piper J Gallery welcomes Colorado artist Cie Hoover for an opening reception on Saturday, September 5th, from 4 to 7 p.m., held in conjunction with the Truckee Art Walk. Hoover will be in the gallery to meet guests and talk about the work behind Rooted Growth.

Working from his studio in Ouray, Colorado, Hoover describes his practice as "organic contemporary" — carved, burned, and painted wood built into layered reliefs and sculptural forms that catch light and throw shadow across the surface. Mountain ridgelines, root systems, and architectural rhythm all surface in the work, but abstracted into something quieter and more modern than typical mountain art.
