DESCRIPTION:The Lake Tahoe Mushroom Festival is being organized by the Sierra Nevada Alliance in partnership with a collective of local fungi experts\, including mycologists\, educators\, researchers\, and experienced field guides. Together\, we are creating a celebration of fungi\, forest ecosystems\, and the natural connections that sustain our region.\n\nAt its core\, this event is dedicated to fostering environmental stewardship and a deeper appreciation for the vital role fungi play in healthy ecosystems. Our goal is to inspire a community that is more connected to the natural world and empowered to become active stewards of the places we cherish.\n\nThe festival offers a unique opportunity to engage the public around shared values of conservation\, education\, curiosity\, and community through fun\, interactive\, and accessible experiences. Attendees can enjoy guided mushroom forays\, expert-led lectures and demonstrations\, educational exhibits\, artisan and vendor booths\, live music\, a kid zone\, nature-based crafts\, and many other activities designed to inspire learning and connection.\n \n\nTentative Schedule:\n\nDoors Open at 12 pm\n\n12:30-1 pm: The Interwoven Fabric: Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms and Plants of Tahoe with Gina Woods\, The Woods Apothecary\n\n1:45-2:30 pm: Cooking Demonstration with Chad Hyatt\n\n3:30-4 pm: Explorations in Amanita Muscaria with Christopher Mackessy\, Trash Panda Permaculture\n\n5-6 pm: Bison (Music Set)\n\n6 pm: Event ends\, thanks for coming!
