SUMMARY:How to Run For Office Workshop #1
DESCRIPTION:After the success of the How to Run for Office Workshops in 2024\, the Truckee Chamber of Commerce and Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe Political Action Committee (CATT PAC) are excited to announce this years two part How to Run for Office Series. Potential candidates are invited to join us for the first workshop on Wednesday\, April 29\, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. for this FREE workshop. \n\nThe workshop will feature interactive sessions covering: \n\nPart 1: Why Run\n\nWe will start the workshop with one of the most important questions a future candidate should ask themselves: Why do you want to run? Kath Egan\, the Town of Truckee's first mayor\, will lead a conversation around the most important questions of your campaign WHY are YOU running for elected office? She will talk about how to discuss your plan to improve things for constituents\, whether you have any conflicts of interest\, and the reasons voters might choose to vote for or against you.\n\nPart 2: Workload Expectation \n\nOur next session will focus on Workload Expectation and will be led by Mary Hetherington\, a long-time Truckee Tahoe Airport Board Member\, who will lead a discussion on the expectations for campaign and service efforts required of candidates once elected.\n\nPart 3: Campaign Strategy\n\nDavid Diamond\, of Air Diamond Consulting\, will lead us through the afternoon session on Campagain Strategy. This extensive segment will cover various aspects of campaign strategy\, including messaging and theme development\, crafting the Candidate Statement of Qualifications\, budget and outreach planning\, and fundraising strategies. The session will also focus on building a volunteer team and executing outreach efforts. \n\nPanel Discussion \n\nWe will conclude our first How to Run for Office Workshop with a panel discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to ask current and past elected officials how they got elected\, what it is like to serve your community and anything else that might prepare them to take on the role of an elected position in our region.\n\nWhether you're a seasoned community advocate or someone considering a leap into public service for the first time\, the How-to-Run-for-Office Workshops offer a welcoming and inclusive space for all aspiring leaders. Space is limited so sign up today!
